Download of the Week: Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks
It's interesting that this song, Foster the People's Punped Up Kicks, has really risen up the charts in the US, currently lodged at #3. It's one of my favorite songs this week and is my download for the week! I love the percussion and the bass guitar and the slurred unclear words! It's really the beat that makes me move my head up and down to this song!

Looking Forward to The Voice at AXN!
Unlike all of my friends who just download whatever show they want, I usually just wait for the show to reach our shores (it takes ages!) since I grew up patiently waiting for weekly shows and have inadvertently carried that (bad?) habit!
Anyway, I am looking forward to see the premiere of The Voice in AXN on August 21 since I love all the music of all the judges - Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton. I have a bit of an idea on how the system works but let's see if I get hooked on the show! I hope it's not another glorified karaoke show.

What Christina Aguilera Should Sing in Michael Jackson's Tribute Gig
Christina Aguilera is one of the headline acts that would be performing in Michael Jackson's tribute gig in the UK in October. Being more of a chanteuse than a dance act, it would be great if Christina can do some of Michael Jackson's more poignant ballads, like Ben, maybe, or something more recent like The Earth Song. What do you think?
New Music from Stromae
Stromae broke into the mainstream because of his hit Alors On Danse, which went to #1 in my personal countdown. He just released his new song, strangely entitled in Spanish, Te Quiero, but the lyrics are in French, por supuesto! I saw him perform this in a French music show and he's sooo mince!!
This week, he gets his second #1 song as Tous Les Memes, moves to the top spot.

My Top Five Favorite Coldplay Songs
Coldplay is releasing their latest album, Mylo Xyloto, on October 25, so that got me thinking as to what my five most favorite Coldplay songs are. Well, here they are -
1. Speed of Sound (2005) - This is my most favorite Coldplay song and it came from their X&Y album. I never tire singing along with this song and I actually want to sing it in a karaoke bar, although it's going to be pretty hard.
2. Viva La Vida (2008) - This is my second most favorite Coldplay song, which was part of their Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, because of the positive vibe I get from it. It was a trans-Atlantic #1 hit for the group. It also reached #1 in the Netherlands.
3. Fix You (2005)- Definitely one of their best songs ever, another song I never tire singing along with it. And I always look forward to them singing it in a live show. The audience just sings along with them with gusto!
4. The Scientist (2002) - A beautiful haunting song from the band with an even more intriguing video!
5. Clocks (2003) - Just listen to that breathtaking piano introduction! This song won a Grammy and deservedly so!
Glee Concert Tour 2011: Gwyneth Paltrow with the Glee Cast Do Forget You
This is one concert I'd like to watch, although something in the back of my mind says that I'm just watching a glorified karaoke show! Anyhow, I would love to see Chris Colfer do what he does best - sing those songs from musicals and of course, maybe see Darren Criss and Cory Monteith show a little skin. I don't really care much for the girls and even if I'm Filipino, I'm not really a fan of Charice.
The guys who watched in Toronto though are quite lucky because Gwyneth Paltrow, one of my most favorite actresses, showed up to sing with them! Bravo!

Sinead O'Connor barely recognizable to some fans - Pop2it - Zap2it
I am actually a big fan of Sinead O'Connor's music, especially of her album, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got, which she released in 1990 - but not of her politics though. She does look unrecognizeable here though. The article says though that her voice remains the same, so maybe she should just get a good trainor.

How Whitney Houston Really Sounded Like When She Still Had the Voice - All The Man That I Need
This songby Whitney Houston, entitled All The Man That You Need, came on the radio today and I remembered how beautiful she sounded in the late 80s and early 90s. I actually have the CD (I'm Your Baby Tonight) where this song can be found and I love it to bits! She sounds so fantastic here - just one of her many number 1 songs - and deservedly so!

Remembering One of Diana Ross' Biggest Hits - I'm Coming Out
I don't think this song by Diana Ross entitled 'I'm Coming Out' - has anything to do with homosexuality. It came out in 1980 and if you listen to the lyrics, it's just about having fun on a night out, getting all dressed up and having a good time!
Reminiscing About Tom Cochrane's Life Is A Highway
I was driving to the gym this morning when this song by Tom Cochrane, entitled Life Is A Highway - certainly a memorable song from the 90's - suddenly came on the radio. I was so happy to hear it I had to wait out for the song to finish, since I was already parked. I don't quite remember the exact year it came out but surely it ended in my Top 10 list for that year. I just love the vibe and the message of this song!
