As mentioned in an earlier post the hip hop and the rap artists have been separated from the R&B artists this year into this new category Hip Hop/Rap Act of the Year.

3rd MyFABEMusic Awards: Hip Hop/Rap Song of 2012

The Hip Hop/Rap Song of the Year is not really a new category.  For the past two years, they have been lumped together with the R&B artists in just one category.  This year though, with more hip hop and rap acts in my personal countdown, we just had to break them off into their own category.  And deservedly so!

My Ten Favorite Songs of 2012: #8 Azealia Banks - 212 @AZEALIABANKS #Top10FavRappers

I admit it took some time for me to really get into this song.  I usually go for more pop stuff and when this song broke out, I think Carly Rae Jepsen was ruling the airwaves.  However, the more I listened to it, the more I was hypnotized by its driving funky beat - and don't you just love the way Azealia raps and licks her lips as well - so darn nawty, gurl!!

In what is probably one of the most intriguing rap records of 2012, Azealia Banks' 212 bamboozles its way to the top of my personal countdown this week.  Here are the rest of the songs in the list -
