Reminiscing Owl City's 2011 Concert

I feel a bit sad that I would miss Owl City's free concert tonight! Pano naman kasi at ginawang free, e konti lang makakakita nun. Bantay bata rin kasi beauty ko at nagpaalam ang yaya ng mga bata! Ate naman, of all the days! You're fired! Charot!
Anyway, bata pa naman si Adam, hope to see you soon! Sa room ko na lang ako magcoconcert! I will introduce the kids to his music na lang!

Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City: Not One Hit Wonders Anymore

Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen can finally sigh with relief from not being tagged as one hit wonders anymore.  Together, they have banded together to sing this song Good Time, which debuts at #18 this week at the Billboard charts.  It's a good pop song which is pretty much right along their alley.  If it goes up next week or disappears slowly from the charts would depend on how the song builds itself on radio - but gauging from the first week sales - looks like it has a future.

New Song From Owl City - Shooting Star

It's great that Owl City has released a new single! This one is entitled Shooting Star. I haven't fully listened to it yet but it should become a staple soon, in my Ipod. I thoroughly enjoyed his last concert here and I wish he would come back to Manila to perform again!

My Favorite Songs of 2011: #12 Owl City - If My Heart Was A House

My Ten Favorite Concerts of 2011

Well, Richard Marx's show last Friday was the last concert I'll be watching this year, so it's now time to unveil my ten favorite concerts or live gigs of 2011 -

#5  Owl City

Well, I did not watch Bruno Mars since, at that time, I didn't quite like his music yet, but I am slowly warming up to him.  Ditto to The Script since the concert was sold out!  I also did not watch Miley Cyrus since I was not sure about how good her setlist was.  Ditto for The Black Eyed Peas and Libera since they both went head on with David Foster.

Otherwise, the other shows that quite didn't make it to the list above are Mike Posner, Train, Go West, Howard Jones, Human League, Belinda Carlisle, Westlife, Sugarfree, Maroon 5, Justin Bieber and Lee Deewyze.

My Favorite Songs of 2011: #27 Owl City - Galaxies

Owl City has been one of my favorite pop acts of the past few years, and two songs from his latest album - All Things Bright and Beautiful - are in my year end list. This popularity has been buoyed further by his fantastic live show here a few months back! Galaxies is a beautiful single and I love its upbeat tempo and its message of praise to God as well! It comes in at #27 in my year end list.

Concert Review: Owl City Continues to Enthrall Pinoy Fans

This was probably the concert where I arrived the most late! I never thought they'd start on time that's why I still decided to attend my French class before coming to the venue, which was just 15 minutes from the school anyway.

The bad thing was that there was no more parking at the Fort and I had to wait a good 30 more minutes before I got a free parking slot! Where's the driver when you need him?!!

Anyway, my friend Marez also arrived late and we arrived at the same time, just three songs shy before Adam did 'Fireflies'! Well, I love the venue, although we were standing! It was cozy and Adam was not so far away! The pictures don't actually do justice since he was actually near us, even if I decided to just get the 'cheap' tickets for this one.

I loved the show and I knew Adam's setlist already and I think he stuck to it since the songs that I was waiting for were sung by him in the right sequence. I love the crowd and I'm so happy I video-ed "Fireflies" since the audience participation was pitch perfect! Adam reminds me of Mika - same geeky singer-songwriter with wonderful songs - and they both dance the same way!!

They were so many young people in the crowd - sometimes I wonder if I should just stick to listening to 80s music - there were so many cute girls and guys - of course!!

I'm sure with the fantastic audience participation and love Adam got tonight, it wouldn't be farfetched if he would come back after he releases a new album. Adam is like David Archuleta - in a way- they're not really big superstars in the US - but I have observed that they have a very solid following here in the Philippines - and I'm sure that even after two concerts here, these two would still come back to perform soon.

The Five Songs I'm Looking Forward in the Owl City Concert

I'm just glad that Owl City is going to play an extensive setlist in his concert here.  Well, maybe, because I just based it on the setlist I've seen him play in the other countries he had shows in the last few months.  So here are the five songs I'm looking forward for him to play on Tuesday -

1.  Galaxies - Definitely my favorite song of his right now!

2.  Vanilla Twilight - This is not actually in the setlist but I do hope someone asks him to play it here!

3.  If My Heart Was A House - One of his ballads that I love the most!

4.  Deer in the Headlights - Another fast song of his that I love the most.  I love the quirky lyrics!

5.  How I Became the Sea

My New Favorite Song: Owl City - Galaxies

I was browsing through the charts this lazy rainy weekend when I learned that Owl City just released his latest album, All Things Bright and Beautiful - and voila, the first single from it is as bright and beautiful as the title of his album suggests! It is now my new favorite song and surely, soon as I get a copy of his album, it'll be one of those which will get heavy rotation!
