Anyone
who has seen the iconic Julia Roberts movie, Pretty Woman would be
familiar with Go West's song, King of Wishful Thinking. I remember it
distinctly being played in the movie in the beginning scene where
Richard Gere leaves his own party (I forget why) and drives through the
winding roads of Beverly Hills in this very fancy car!
Anyhow,
Go West already had hits before that song and when I was in first year
high school, Call Me and Don't Close Your Eyes were big party hits
everytime we had a dance in school. Hayyy....those were the days of
innocence and just pure fun! Now, everybody wants to do the doggy -
like, whew, all you guys are too young to do that - and it's not a very
comfortable position!
Anyway, the traffic in QC was horrible
last night! I really thought we would miss the whole show because it
said 7PM in my ticket! I believe we just got out of the tangled QC
traffic mess by 8PM and although I was trying to be calm about it, I
felt a little bad that I would miss a good part of the show, just like I
did Owl City!!
But much to my surprise, soon as I passed
Ortigas, there was no traffic anymore, so I just zoomed past EDSA
through the Fort and got to the venue in just 30 minutes. One hour to
entangle from the QC traffic mess, and 30 minutes from there. That's
how I really wanted not to miss the first song!
It was my first
time to be at the Venice Piazza in McKinley Hill. It's a good
development and there was ample parking space. Unfortunately, there
were not too many people in the show. I guess only the real fans
watched. I think we were just about 50 people all in all! But still, we
had a good time since Peter and Richard were very jovial and funny and
just did their job of entertaining very well! They sang all their hits
and I took pictures and videos while the guys entertained everyone.
I was very surprised and happy that the organizers allowed the fans to
have an autograph signing! Thanks, thanks and more thanks! So I had my
ticket signed, because if I only knew about it, I would've brought some
of my Go West CDs along!! Peter Cox was very jovial and we had a short
chat. I wasn't able to talk to Richard much since he was asking for
some cold beer!
The show would've been perfect for a high
school reunion! Now if we only have enough money to bring in some of
our 80s icons to sing during our 25th high school reunion!
