Had My Fill of Opera Music This Year with Rigoletto

The trio of Korean opera singers and a bevy of opera singers from a local university brought us Verdi's Rigoletto a few Sundays ago at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.  Laura, Mama and I actually enjoyed the show!  The sets were beautiful and the performances were spot-on as well!

I am not really an expert on opera music but you know, when you enjoy something, you know that something special is happening.

It was also great that the performers were very game to pose with the fans after the show!  I really enjoyed meeting and talking and congratulating them for a good work done!

I just hope we can have another opera here soon, and not wait for a very long time for the next one!

Vertical Horizon Tops My Personal Countdown for the Eighth Time

It was really great that the band Vertical Horizon decided to bring their concert here to Manila this year.  Otherwise, I wouldn't know that they have a new brilliant album and I wouldn't have been able to discover all these beautiful songs from their latest album Echoes from the Underground.

Consolation becomes the band's third #1 song from that album, and their 8th #1 overall.

Here are my ten favorite songs for the week ending August 29, 2014 -

Vertical Horizon gets their 8th top 10 hit this week, as Consolation, moves up from #2 to #1. It's also the band's third #1 hit from their latest album, Echoes From the Underground.

Vertical Horizon's Solid Work in Echoes From the Underground

The band Vertical Horizon is very popular here in the Philippines due to their work in the late 90s and early 2000s.  However, I have been impressed with their work on their last two studio albums - 2009's Burning the Days and 2013's Echoes From the Underground

I was able to listen to those two albums since the band had shows here in Manila.  I love their latest album, Echoes From the Underground and ten of the songs from the album have already charted in my personal countdown.  Two of those songs also went to #1.

Lovin' the Cute Brotherhood of AJR

AJR's "I'm Ready" was one of the catchy songs I listened to when I was listening to the current top 100 songs in Billboard.  I immediately placed it in my Personal Favorites playlist without knowing much about the group who sang it.

I was happy to discover that AJR is actually three brothers - of the Jonas Brothers and Hanson mould!  However, the brothers claim that their music is organic - and you can certainly hear that in the song !  It's catchy and unique and the boys have definitely mixed their influences with their own personal style.

This week, the song continues to move up my personal countdown, parking itself at #3.  It's their very first top 10 hit in my personal countdown.

I wish the trio would come and visit Manila, maybe do some kind of mall tour!

Rita Ora Finally Puts A Hit in My Personal Countdown

Finally Rita Ora plants a hit in the FABE Weekly Top 10 countdown.  However, this song is her collaboration with Iggy Azalea.  Doesn't matter, this should start the ball rolling for her as well.

2014 - Black Widow (with Iggy Azalea) (#6)Enhanced by Zemanta

Shane Filan Setlist for Manila Concert

Shane Filan performs here in Manila for the first time as a solo artist.  The setlist he is going to perform is a mix of songs from his latest album You and Me and some hits from his group Westlife.  I think it's a good mix!

  1. Once

BoyzII Men Manila Concert Setlist
