The 1975 Brings Manchester Rock to Trinoma

I was really surprised that the Manchester-based band, The 1975, had a sizeable following in Manila! I think, if they gathered together everyone who watched in all the Ayala Malls they performed in, they would be able to sell out the NBC Tent maybe or at least the Patron section of the Araneta Coliseum.

At least there, the acoustics would've been much much much better! And the poor fans would have had better ventilation, more comfy seats and a chance to get to the loo or buy a drink, without having to worry about losing one's place in the crowded SRO area.

I think the band really performed well! They did try their best to sound good but the acoustics in Trinoma is not really suitable for a concert kasi sabog and kalat ang sound. Well, just like the other fans, we just made do with what was offered to us and I can safely say, we all had a good time! Looked like the band did too!

My Weekly Top 10 March 14, 2014: #1 Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel - Do You Want to Build A Snowman

It's been more than two months since I've seen the movie Frozen but the songs from the soundtrack are still charting due mainly to its durability.  It has already produced four top 10 songs in my personal countdown, including three number one songs.

The song Do You Want to Build A Snowman moves this week from #3 to #1, making it the third #1 song from that movie soundtrack.  It was performed by Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel.

American Idol alumnus, Stefano Langone's very first top 10 hit in my personal countdown,  Yes to Love, stays at #4 for another week this week.  I discovered the song as it was used as one of the tracks in one of my favorite Les Mills programs, Body Attack!

Concert Review: Macklemore Definitely Knows How to Throw A Party

I was definitely surprised at how comfortable in the stage and how great Macklemore's stage presence was last night during his concert here in Manila. From the first word he rapped until he said his farewells, he commanded the stage and stirred the very discerning Pinoy audience into a frenzy! The whole VIP section including the mosh pit area was just jumping and waving their arms - they were so much fun to watch from my vantage point!

I decided to situate myself in the Lower Box though since I'm not young anymore and I cannot stand for three hours to wait for Macklemore to appear (the concert started quite late, around past 10PM na) - so kung mosh pit ako, dapat andun na me ng 7PM to get good pwesto.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis did a very compact set, singing all their hits plus a few songs from their earlier work, The Other Side, and some songs from The Heist as well. I shed a bit of tears when he sang Same Love. Pano naman, nagspiel kasi about equality and echos echos kaya ayan, napa-teary eyed ako. It's very rare for a major artist to publicly profess in a concert here in Manila, equality in rights for gay people - so medyo kinilabot ako when he was making the speech. He really sounded sincere - and the song explicitly proclaims his beliefs.

More of Sam and a Bit of KZ!

KZ and Sam did their own version of A Great Big World's Say Something last night - and it was a great interpretation, hewed very closely to the original!
