My Most Favorite Prince Song

THIS is my most favorite Prince song - and he didn't even sing it.

At 19, when it was such a big hit, I had never even fallen in love yet so it was just one of those hit songs.

It was only 20 years later when the message of the song really hit me. You'd have to undergo a real breakup to appreciate the gravitas and the sparsity of the song's arrangement.

This may be one of the reasons a lot of people can't move on. Because "Nothing Compares 2 You".

Sinead O'Connor's Lay Your Head Down (Albert Nobbs) - Golden Globe Nominee Best Original Song 2012

Whew, I haven't heard any Sinead O'Connor song for almost 15 years now, so I was really happy to hear that she sang the theme song for the Albert Nobbs - and it got a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song! Hurrah! This was written by Glenn Close and music by Brian Byrne. The song is vintage Sinead, mind you - and she sounds just as good as she did 22 years ago!

I am actually a big fan of Sinead O'Connor's music, especially of her album, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got, which she released in 1990 - but not of her politics though. She does look unrecognizeable here though. The article says though that her voice remains the same, so maybe she should just get a good trainor.

Revisiting Two of My Favorite Peter Gabriel Duets

I discovered Peter Gabriel when I was in second year high school, due mainly to the popularity of the #1 song, 'Sledgehammer'. Because of this, I bought his two albums, So and Us, which contains these two very beautiful duets. The one on top is a song he did with Sinead O'Connor from the Us album. It's one of the sublime songs in that album. I saw the video again tonight in Channel V, so I decided to write about it.

The one below is his haunting duet with Kate Bush, 'Don't Give Up'. This is a special song for me because it helped me get through a difficult period in my teenage life. Thanks Peter and Kate for the inspiration!
