I am so happy for Shirley Bassey!! She has so many gay fans, being a gay icon herself, at least in the UK and Europe, so with her riveting performance in last week's Oscar's, finally, many in middle America would at least have an idea how good she really is! I too, was one of those televiewers who were bowled over by her performance that night! It kinda reminded me of this year's Grammy opening song where Taylor Swift had so many circus performers onstage that it was kinda irritating to watch and I realized later on that she did that because her live singing - at least at that time - was no good! Compare that to the spare stage in Shirley Bassey's performance - no back up dancers, no do-wop girls behind her - just her in a shimmering gold gown - and that booming voice - at the age of freakin' 76! Can you beat that! Goldfinggahhh!!! Love it!!
