Chart Performance: Far East Movement

Far East Movement gets their third top 10 hit and first #1 song in the UK, as Get Up (Rattle), debuts at #1.   They collaborated with Dutch DJs Bingo Players, on this track.

They are a rapping, songwriting, and music event producing group formed in 2003 in Los Angeles, California, consisting of Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Splif, and DJ Virman.

The Cataracs are also credited in this song.  They also score their first US #1 hit.  They are an American Indie-Pop duo formed in Berkeley, California consisting of David “Campa” Benjamin Singer-Vine, a songwriter and vocalist and Niles “Cyrano” Hollowell-Dhar, a songwriter, vocalist, and producer. The duo started out as an independent group, during their years at Berkeley High School.

Finally, the last credit for this song is Dev, who also scores her first US #1 hit.  She's the voice that you hear in the beginning of the song since it comes from her song 'Booty Bounce', which is sampled in this song.

I've always wondered what G6 means and many consider the name to refer to the Gulfstream G650, a twin-engine aircraft under development by Gulfstream Aerospace, or also to the Pontiac G6, a car made by Pontiac. Interestingly, in the song there is a reference to an alcoholic drink Sizzurp. Its main ingredient is prescription-strength cough syrup containing codeine and promethazine.  I like this song.  It kinda grows on you and I'm happy this collaboration worked well for everyone.  It's like hiphop meets electronic music.
