Local band Franco, gets their second #1 song this week, as To Survive, moves up to the top spot.  Two years ago, they had their first #1 song with Better Days.

Here are my ten favorite songs for the week ending June 26, 2015 -

#1 Franco - To Survive (#2)

My Weekly OPM Countdown July 10, 2015 #2 Never the Strangers - Sabay

Returning this year with a new album, the local OPM band, Never the Strangers, get their 4th top 10 hit in my OPM countdown, as Sabay, zooms up to #2.

This is one of the more intriguing OPM tracks this year, and I admit, their sound has hewed closely to Rico Blanco, who has been instrumental in the production of the songs in their latest album.

Their song has had 20,751 views in Youtube as of this week.

Enjoyed the Music of 'Never the Strangers' in Lifehouse Concert

Definitely one of the more exciting new acts of 2012, Never the Strangers opened for Lifehouse for the latter's concert here last Saturday.  I only know two songs from the band, their hits Moving Closer and Alive.  I video-ed Alive because it's one of my favorite songs this year.

As for these pictures with the band, we were actually leaving Araneta already when my friend Jenny, spotted them.  Actually, I was not even sure it was them since the people of Dayly Entertainment did not use the video screen for the people in the Upper Box and Gen Ad - so we had to content ourselves with seeing this band like they were ants!  One giveaway though was that some people were having their pictures taken with them - so it HAD to be them!

As for the performance that night - they sounded solid and whatever you hear as an MP3 on your Ipod is the same as what you'll hear live!  That's pretty cool!

Never the Strangers: Breakthrough Band

The second quarter of 2012 is just beginning yet the band Never the Strangers is slowly staking its claim as one of the best breakthrough acts of the year.  They already have a number one song in the OPM Myx Countdown, Moving Closer, although I feel their first single, Alive, was a far more superior single!

I do hope they continue to release more singles, if they do have an album out.  That way, they can introduce their sound to more people.  They have a pretty interesting sound, to begin with - something worth exploring!
