Angeline Quinto Makes It Four #1 Songs from One Album

Angeline Quinto becomes the first local artist to get four #1 songs from one album.  Christian Bautista had three #1 songs in my OPM countdown from his exemplary Outbound album.  This week, Angeline does one better.  Kunin Mo Na Ang Lahat Sa Akin, Wag Mo Akong Iwang Mag-Isa, and Patuloy ang Pangarap, all went to #1.  This week, Pang-Habang Panahon makes it hit #4 to go all the way to #1.

Of course, she had the advantage of me listening to her CD, which is kinda difficult for me since I don't really have much time to listen to everyone's CD.  It's more of a luck of the draw thing.

Anyway, here are my ten favorite OPM songs for the week ending March 8, 2013 -

#1 Angeline Quinto - Pang-Habang Panahon (#2)

#2 Juris - Hanggang Wakas (#9)

#3 Toni Gonzaga - Kahit Na (#1)

#4 Franco - Better Days (#4)

#5 Chris Cayzer - Inside You (NEW)

#6  Ebe Dancel - Tayo-tayo Lang (NEW)

#7 Marion Aunor - If You Ever Change Your Mind (NEW)

#8 Nyoy Volante - Pikit (#8)

#9  Luigi D'Avola - Take A Chance (#10)

#10 Gloc-9 / Kamikazee - Kunwari (NEW)

Kamikazee and Kyla Together in a Song

One of the more interesting collaborations this year features RnB songbird Kyla with heavy rock heavyweights Kamikazee.  I actually like the solo efforts of both acts last year and I find their collaboration here in Huling Sayaw quite interesting.   I haven't yet quite warmed up to the song but I'm sure a few more spins should do the trick!

My #1 to #5 Favorite OPM Songs of 2012 (As of June 30, 2012)

The first six months of 2012 has come and it's time once again to list down my ten favorite OPM songs of the year (as of June 30, 2012).

This is the first of two parts, this one detailing my #1 to #5 favorite OPM songs, as yet, of 2012.
I have to advise you though that this is a running list and the song's position may change as 2012 progresses because new entries can come in.  Everything is subjective, really, and is just based on how much I really like (or liked) the song.

#1 Kamikazee - Halik

This song was a definite slow burn for me.  I didn't love it kaagad, but when I did, ayun, di ko na siya nabitawan.  I just love the lyrics and the intensity of how Jay sings the song!

#2 Pops Fernandez / Robin Nievera - Friends
It was the tailend of the Christmas season 2011 and I just bought a copy of Pops Fernandez's Silver album.  I listened to it through the week of New Year's 2012 and I discovered several gems from it.  This is my most favorite one - her duet with her son Robin Nievera, Friends

#3 Chris Cantada - Scarred

Another slow burn song - this one took almost two months languishing in my Ipod before I noticed how great it really was!  A gem of a pop song!

I love the album from which this song comes from.  I think it's the best work Christian has done ever since he started 10 years ago - I can say that because I've been a fan ever since he began his career!  His voice is earnest and clear, the songs, perfect for the age he's in!  He's blossoming into a true artist!

#5 Solenn Heusaff - It's Our First Time

Every year, there are songs which I call my guilty pleasures because they come from artists whom I wouldn't listen to normally, because they're fluffy or lightweight.  But all that is perception.  Yes, Solenn's music may be classified as fluffy or lightweight because that's exactly the image she's projecting!  She's not pretending to be like Cynthia Alexander or Asin.  Her foxy looks are just perfect for a sexy song like this - and Solenn does a fantastic job of breathing and heaving into this yeah, delightfully sinful song!

Kamikazee Is On A Roll

In my book, Kamikazee is on a roll this year as their follow-up to my favorite song, Halik, is staying strong in the local charts.  Tagpuan is slowly becoming a favorite, currently at #2 in the OPM Myx Countdown. I still have to like the song like I love Halik, but it should get my heart soon!

My OPM Myx Coundtown Requests For the Week: December 19, 2011

It's kinda slim pickings for me this week as three of my favorite songs bowed out of the countdown this week.  So anyhow, here are my requests for the OPM Myx Countdown this week -

1.  Kamikazee - Halik (4 votes)
2.  Christian Bautista - All That's Left (3 votes)

4.  Karylle - Basically (1 vote)

Myx limits your requests to only 10 daily, that's why I distributed my requests that way.

Kamikazee's Gives Everyone a 'Halik'

Just like Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee is one of those OPM bands who were already big stars in their own right, before I finally decided to give OPM a listen.  I loved their sleeper hit, 'Alay' last year, and again, this year, they return with the same romantic mood, in 'Halik', another song which is slowly becoming one of my favorites.  Despite their hard rock creds, these guys can come out with romantic mush that rocks!
