A Broadway Song from A Tony-Winning Play is My #1 Song for 2017

It is not uncommon for me to choose a Broadway song as my favorite song for the year.  In 1997, "Seasons of Love" was my #1 favorite song for that year, in 2003, Hairspray's "You Can't Stop the Beat" figured prominently in my year end list and in 2005, Wicked's "Defying Gravity" beat out all the popular songs for that year.

It happens again in 2017, as "For Forever" from the Tony-winning play, Dear Evan Hansen, is my #1 song for the year.

The 1975 is an alternative rock band from Manchester who has four top ten hits in My Weekly Top 10 countdown.  One of them went all the way to #1.

2017 - The Sound (#1) * 2 weeks

2017 - Ugh! (#6)

Ugh! moves up to #6 this week.

The 1975 Setlist for their Manila Concert

Ilang araw na lang and the band The 1975 is going to perform here in Manila again! I was lucky to see the band perform in Trinoma a few years ago, but the acoustics there was so bad and it was tiring standing up for more than 2 hours.  This time around, the concert is at the MOA Arena so most likely nakaupo kami nito so I can rest a bit before the band performs.  

I have been listening to the setlist of the band and I think it's great that they're playing almost all their songs!  Anyway, here is their most likely setlist when they perform here in Manila this coming Saturday.  Have fun you guys!  Well, we'll all have fun!

The 1975 Brings Manchester Rock to Trinoma

I was really surprised that the Manchester-based band, The 1975, had a sizeable following in Manila! I think, if they gathered together everyone who watched in all the Ayala Malls they performed in, they would be able to sell out the NBC Tent maybe or at least the Patron section of the Araneta Coliseum. 

At least there, the acoustics would've been much much much better! And the poor fans would have had better ventilation, more comfy seats and a chance to get to the loo or buy a drink, without having to worry about losing one's place in the crowded SRO area.

I think the band really performed well! They did try their best to sound good but the acoustics in Trinoma is not really suitable for a concert kasi sabog and kalat ang sound. Well, just like the other fans, we just made do with what was offered to us and I can safely say, we all had a good time! Looked like the band did too!
