When I opened my musical ears to Korean music this year, they have immediately taken root in my personal countdown and in a span of eight months, three Korean songs have made it to #1! Big Bang went to #1 with Blue, then SM Town with Dear My Family, and then this week, Korean rapper Psy, storms my personal countdown with Gangnam Style - a song that is poised to conquer the world.
Here are my top 10 favorite songs as of August 31, 2012 -
#1 Psy - Gangnam Style (NEW)
#2 Owl City/Carly Rae Jepsen - Good Time (#1)
#3 Florence + the Machine - Spectrum (NEW)
This is Florence + the Machine's first top 10 hit in my personal countdown. This song was a slow burn for me but I love it now!
#4 Taylor Swift - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (NEW)
Taylor Swift is back in my personal countdown, this time with another catchy song about her old loves. With this lady, nothing in her relationships is sacred. She just sings about them!
#5 Tulisa - Young (NEW)
This song has been hovering in my list for a long time now and finally this week, it enters the top 10 at #5.
#6 The Wanted - Chasing the Sun (#8)
One of the holdovers from last week, this song should go higher especially that the band is coming here for a show next month.
#7 Emanuelle - Sandali Lang (NEW)
Emanuelle returns with another top 10 song. Happy hit the top 10 earlier this week. This song debuts at #7 this week, another gem from her.
#8 Muse - Madness (NEW)
Thanks to the Olympics, I was introduced to the genius of this British band. This song is cool!
Somedaydream and Champ Lui Pio both return to the top 10 this week.
#10 Parokya ni Edgar/Frank Magalona/Gloc-9 - Bagsakan (NEW)
Another great OPM song which features a rap from Frank Magalona and Gloc-9.
