Chris Cantada Tops My OPM Countdown For the Fourth Time

Chris Cantada has four hits in my OPM countdown and all of them have gone all the way to #1. Those four songs are Scarred, The Other Side, January and Little Girl (Your Soul is Fine).

Here are my ten favorite OPM songs for the week ending August 22, 2014.

#10 Urbandub - Hover (NEW)

Local rock band Urbandub finally gets their very first top 10 hit in my OPM countdown as Hover, debuts at #10.





#9 Kamikazee - Kislap (NEW)

Kamikazee gets their fifth top 10 hit this week in my OPM countdown as Kislap debuts at #9.





#8 Zsa Zsa Padilla - All Cried Out (#10)

Zsa Zsa Padilla's  twelfth top 10 hit in my OPM countdown All Cried Out, moves up to #8 this week.  It's the fourth top 10 hit from her latest album, Palagi.




#7 RJ Ty feat. Ron Henley - Puyat (#8)

The collaboration between RJ Ty and Ron Henley, Puyat, moves up my OPM countdown this week to #7.





#6 Klarisse de Guzman - Di Kayang Pilitin (#7)

Klarisse de Guzman's very first top 10 hit in my OPM countdown, Di Kayang Pilitin, moves up a notch to #6 this week.






#5 Yeng Constantino and Spongecola - +63 (#6)

Spongecola and Yeng Constantino's collaboration +63 continues to move up my OPM countdown.  It lands this week at #5.  It's Spongecola's 6th top 10 hit in my OPM countdown and Yeng's eighth.




#4 Kilos - Basta Masaya Ka (#5)

Local band Kilos' Basta Masaya Ka, moves up a notch to #4 this week. It's the band's first top 10 hit in my OPM countdown.




#3 Mica - Heart Song (#4)

Mica's Heart Song moves up to #3 this week.  It's her very first top 10 hit in my OPM countdown.




#2 Smugglaz - P.M.L. (Panghawakan Mo Lang) (#3)

Smugglaz's P.M.L (Panghawakan Mo Lang) moves up to #2 this week.  It's his very first top 10 hit in my OPM countdown.





#1 Chris Cantada - Little Girl (Your Soul is Fine) (#2)

All of Chris Cantada's four hits from his self-titled album went all the way to #1.  Little Girl (Your Soul is Fine) becomes his fourth #1 song and top 10 hit.

Klarisse de Guzman's Star Rises

Klarisse de Guzman has one top 10 hit in my OPM countdown.  It's great that she has released an album after her stint in The Voice Philippines.  Her exposure there should help her gain the audience she deserves.  

Her first hit, Di Kayang Pilitin, is a worthy first ballad for the newbie chanteuse.

Paolo Onesa's collection of standards songs continues to give him hits. Which Way Robert Frost becomes his second #1 hit in my OPM countdown.

#10 Zsa Zsa Padilla - All Cried Out (NEW)

Zsa Zsa Padilla's All Cried Out is the fourth top 10 hit from her latest album Palagi.  The song debuts this week at #10.  It's also the diva's 12th top 10 hit in my OPM countdown.  She now extends her chart span to an amazing 31 years, a feat which only a few OPM active artists can boast of having.




#9 Maldita - Sayo (NEW)

Zamboanga-based band Maldita has now put 6 top 10 hits in this countdown, all from their self-titled debut album.  Sayo debuts this week at #9.  The band has three #1 songs as well from that album.




#8 RJ Ty feat. Ron Henley - Puyat (#10)

The collaboration between RJ Ty and Ron Henley, Puyat, moves back up again, this time to #8, its new current peak position.




#7 Klarisse de Guzman - Di Kayang Pilitin (#7)

Klarisse de Guzman's very first top 10 hit in my OPM countdown, Di Kayang Pilitin, stays at #7 for a second week.




#6 Spongecola and Yeng Constantino - +63 (#6)

The collaboration between Spongecola and Yeng Constantino, +63, stays at #6 for a second week.

Basta Masaya Ka by local band Kilos continues to move up my OPM countdown, up to #5 this week.  It's also their first hit in my OPM countdown.

#3 Smugglaz - P.M.L. (Panghawakan Mo Lang) (#5)

Local rapper Smugglaz's first hit in my OPM countdown, P.M.L. (Pang-Hawakan Mo Lang) moves up to #3 this week.





#2 Chris Cantada - Little Girl (Your Soul is Fine) (#3)

Chris Cantada's fourth top 10 hit in my OPM countdown is most likely going to be his fourth #1 song as well.



#1 Paolo Onesa - Which Way Robert Cross (#2)

Paolo Onesa gets his second #1 hit in my OPM countdown this week as Which Way Robert Frost, moves up from #2 to #1. His first #1 hit was Lucky in Love.

Hazel Faith's Plastic Tops the FABE OPM Weekly Top 10 Countdown!

Hazel Faith gets her very first top 10 hit in my OPM countdown this week, as Plastic, moves to take up the top spot.  She becomes the 17th OPM act to top my OPM countdown for the first time.

Hazel Faith finally climbs to the top of my OPM countdown this week. She becomes the 17th OPM artist this year to get their very first #1 hit in my OPM countdown, which just goes to show that OPM is alive and well, with enough new artists to keep the music alive through 2014.

Jonalyn Viray gets her very first #1 song in my OPM countdown this week, as Sa Piling Mo, moves to the top spot. It's her second top 10 hit as well.

Spongecola's Singapore Sling continues to move up my OPM countdown.  The band has two top 10 hits in the countdown this week.

Jaya Tops My OPM Countdown For the Second Time

Jaya's All Souled Out album may be a few years old already but it has constantly been churning out hits for her.  In fact, Any Other Fool is already her fifth straight top 10 hit from that album. 

This week, the song does one better, and becomes the second #1 hit from the same album.

Spongecola and Yeng Constantino both return to my OPM countdown this week, as +63 debuts at #9.  It's the band's sixth top 10 hit and Yeng's eighth in my OPM countdown.

Local band Frio's very first top 10 hit in my OPM countdown, Hanggang Dito Na Lang, moves from #10 to #8 this week.

Spongecola's latest hit in this week's top 10 is Singapore Sling and it's steadily climbing the countdown to #6.
