Nicki Minaj Concert Pictures Set 1: Roman's Revenge to Automatic

When we entered the MOA Arena, there was a huge white sheet covering the stage.  I really thought it would show a video of something but we couldn't really see anything from where we were standing.

Unlike her other contemporaries Katy Perry or Lady Gaga who made dramatic entrances during their concerts here, Nicki Minaj opened hers with a lady's voice reading something to the tune of - well, Enya's music!  Pretty strange, isn't it?  Then Nicki just appears onstage in that robe she also wore during her Grammy performance earlier this year.  Incidentally, she sang the same song she sang during the Grammies and although I didn't quite like it then, I am beginning to warm to it now.

Nicki did pretty well in her first few songs.  You could really see as the show progressed that she is essentially a fantastic rapper, but not quite the singer.  We could see that she would just lipsynch through the singing parts of her songs, or opt to sing in a lower octave than what the song was initially sang for (observed this with Turn Me On).  This was however fine with me because her rapping skills were peerless and that was what really carried her throughout her show!

The song that first got me moving was Beez in the Trap which she followed up with Stupid Hoe - which I think, she rapped pretty well!  And then she did a kooky number shaking her as in  Big Sean's Dance (A$$).  She ended her first segment with the ballads Right By My Side and Moment For Life.

She then exited the stage and the DJ launched into her song Automatic.
