Admit it! You'd want to see these icons of two different generations come together in a music video! That would be the ultimate music video wet dream - if there was one! The problem now is, who approaches who first? Should Madonna sing a song that Lady Gaga has written and will Madonna's musical vision still shock the free-spirited eccentricities of the Gaga lady?
If they really do work together, I just hope they concentrate more on making a catchy song, and focus on the video later. Madonna's collaboration with Britney was not really a mega-success because the song was just so-so. However, I know of two of Madonna's collaboration that really worked. In the 1989 album, 'Like A Prayer', Madonna did a duet with Prince, 'This Is Not A Love Song' and Madonna just lets Prince influence her and the results are fantastic! Their voices even blend well together! Too bad they did not release the song. I guess the studio didn't want the two egos to clash if the song failed. Bummer!
In Ricky Martin's breakthrough hit CD, whose title escapes me now, he sings a ballad with Madonna, 'Be Careful With My Heart', and again, it's a fantastic song, with Madonna, allowing Ricky to influence her with his Latino type of music. They even recorded a Spanish version - Cuidado something.
So now, I think Madonna will allow Lady Gaga free rein over her, and let the Gaga lady's music shine through. If they do work together, the whole world will surely eagerly await, not only the sonic product but the visual one too!
